01·The brief
Twelve pavilions, every tree kept
A boutique operator asked for a twelve-key lodge on a forested slope above the Petanu river: every mature tree kept, no vehicle on the guest paths, and an arrival that happens on foot, quietly, under the canopy.
02·The approach
Stone and thatch under the canopy
Twelve pavilions are set between the trunks on dark volcanic stone plinths, roofs of alang-alang thatch floating below the canopy line. Teak joinery, copper fittings and hand-cut stone carry the palette; paths are stepped stone, lit low.
03·The result
Opened in 2025
The lodge opened in 2025 at twelve keys and runs at high occupancy. The canopy has closed over the paths again. Published with the operator's consent.
